that made perfect sense
I held out my hands & asked where I could help & somebody grabbed me & pointed me towards the future & said, You've got your work cut out for you & I said, isn't there anything easier? & he laughed & said you could dig around in the past, but it's just busywork & that made perfect sense so I shrugged & started right where I was, along with everyone else

a box of jumbo crayons is a good place to begin
skinny crayons feel more color-inside-the-lines-ish
even without the company of chubby toddler fingers
jumbo crayons carry you back to the childhood joy of creating...
flipping open the box top
sniffing the waxy goodiness
running your fingertips across each point
coddling magic sticks in your hand
feeling each carefree stroke on paper
creating anything
creating happiness

A Game Played by Miracles
I met my youngest son when he was thirteen months old.
He was the size of a three month old infant,
placed into my arms curled into rigid fetal position,
unable to make a sound or suck a bottle.
I faintly recall a doctor's voice...
" We don't expect that he will ever walk, or talk, or have measurable intelligence."
